The 2009 Oscar Night® DC's annual black tie event was not only about the glamour and glitz, celebrating the Academy Awards® of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, but it was also a wonderful chance to help raise funds for meaningful charities nationwide, one of which was for the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area.
Hundreds of guests from all around the Washington, DC area began arriving at Hard Rock Cafe´ (999 E Street, NW, Washington, DC) around 7 p.m. Mistress of Ceremonies, Pamela Brown, ABC7/WJLA-TV weekend morning news anchor and reporter, opened the evening's event with a welcome to guests, thanked sponsors and recognized the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area's work within the community. Throughout the evening, guests watched the Academy Awards® on multiple flat screen televisions at the two-level venue, and enjoyed a buffet and drinks until the last award was announced. Arch Campbell, ABC7/WJLA-TV movies, theatre and entertainment reporter, was on-the-scene reporting his remarks about the Oscar event and spoke of the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area's efforts. Bids were also made on silent auction items donated by many sponsors, and only one item was a live-bid auction - Gibson Les Paul Guitar autographed by O.A.R. American Red Cross of the National Capital Area is honored to be chosen to host Oscar Night® DC, the Washington, DC area's only official Academy-sanctioned viewing party for the 81st Academy Awards®.
